The main body of the statue is almost identical to the 18 cm Statue of the Buddha but differs in that it has the seven Buddhas of healing on the halo, and holds a medicine jar. Bhaisajyaguru statue with the jar placed above dhyāna mudrā is a relatively rare style. In contrast to Amitābha in the western pure land, Bhaisajyaguru is considered to be the head of the eastern pure land and has been widely worshipped in Japan for its worldly benefits in curing illness. It is made of die-cast zinc alloy, not synthetic resin, and is colored using traditional techniques.
There are individual differences in color. In particular, differences in old bronze color are somewhat large, so please inquire if you are concerned about this before purchasing.
